Sender ID (sender name) vs short number: what's the difference?
Sender ID alphanumeric (recommended in Morocco)
A name displayed as sender (e.g.: “ENVOISMS”, “MABANQUE”), up to 11 characters. Ideal for brand recognition in marketing and transactional SMS. Requires prior validation (see Sender ID category and regulations).
Long number / classic mobile
The message is sent from a standard 10-digit Moroccan number (06 XX XX XX XX or 07 XX XX XX XX), generated randomly each time it is sent. Cost-effective solution, but without branding, and the recipient cannot respond reliably.
Short number (short code)
A dedicated short number (e.g. 3XXXX), generally reserved for very high volume uses requiring incoming responses (competitions, voting, SMS customer service). Available on request from the sales team, with deadline for allocation by operators.
Which one to choose?
For OTP and transactional: Alphanumeric Sender ID. For a service with frequent responses from recipients: dedicated short number.
