Why Register a Custom Sender ID in Morocco?
Sending SMS messages with an alphanumeric Sender ID (e.g., YOURBRAND instead of an anonymous phone number) is the standard for certifying communication authenticity and building immediate trust with Moroccan recipients.
However, the Moroccan telecom market (regulated by the ANRT) enforces a mandatory declaration and approval procedure with the three national network operators: Maroc Telecom (IAM), Orange Maroc, and inwi. To combat phishing, brand impersonation (smishing), and spam, every custom Sender ID must undergo formal registration.
Without prior approval, messages dispatched with an unwhitelisted custom Sender ID will be blocked by operator SMS firewalls (returning HTTP 403 Forbidden or Rejected delivery status).
